La Plates is turning 5!

I can't believe it's been almost 5 years since La Plates was born! If you could have seen the chaos when it all began...we've come so far! Next Wednesday, May 1st, 2013 will be the "official" birthday party for La Plates & we want to celebrate with you - our friends and family. We're going to be giving away all kinds of treats!

To begin, we are handing out 5 gift certificates {valued at $50 each} to friends that follow us on Facebook & 'LIKE', 'SHARE' & 'COMMENT' on our Turning 5 post. Want to see where else we'll be sharing some treats? Follow us on Pinterest, Instagram & Twitter.

We can't wait to gift all the winners - entries will be taken until 5.1.13 @ midnight CST. Don't be tardy to the party!

Tabletop Tuesday

You know you've fallen off the blogging wagon when your husband asks, "Are you still blogging?" The answer is YES! We love social media, but sometimes it's overwhelming whether to spend our time on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram or Twitter...now we just heard we're suppose to be on LinkedIn too! In the interest of time, we have neglected our blog...promise to be better!

We've loved sharing some fabulous tabletop settings recently - Tabletop Tuesday. Be sure to share photos of your upcoming soirees featuring La Plates - you can email us at: info@laplates.com. Here are some of the favorites:
featuring La Plates - Mosaic salad plates & Helen Jon - Olivia dinner plate
charger & napkin from Sharyn Blond Linens, fabric tablecloth from Quadrille Fabrics

featuring Ampersand Design Studios - Color Block salad plate & Diamond Ikat dinner plate
fabric tablecloth from Quadrille Fabrics

Pin It to Win It with La Plates

We are loving Pinterest and all the ideas that are literally at our fingertips! If you are as crazy about Pinterest as we are, this little contest will be a breeze! If you haven't joined Pinterest, email us and we'll send you an invite (info at laplates dot com). I can't say I didn't warn you...it's addictive...in a sort of good way.

All you need to do is:
#1 - Create a La Plates Board on Pinterest
#2 - Pin all your favorite items from www.laplates.com
#3 - Tell us about your board on our Facebook Page - if you're not a fan of La Plates on FB, you should be. We're giving stuff away there next!
#4 - Keep on pinning until May 1, 2012 - our 4th La Plates birthday. We will be randomly picking a winner @ noon CST (5.1.12) for a $200 set of La Plates!

Social vs. "Business" Networking

We have blogged about our love for Facebook in the past. We knew we loved it for reconnecting with old friends, distant family & a few random people from long ago. However, our initial reason for joining Facebook was "networking". Since we've spent entirely too many minutes...hours...possibly days checking FB, we decided we needed to get serious about the "business" part of Facebook. We're still not sure the best way to share La Plates with the world, but you can become a fan AND join our group! Either way, we'll provide discounts and the latest and greatest from La Plates.

Facebook

I fought it for months. I wasn't going to do it, just because everyone else was doing it. I could keep in touch with all my friends on my own. The idea of Facebook made me a little nervous, I mean EVERYONE could find you!

I did it. I love it. I'm addicted. How did I ever live without Facebook?!

Let me count the ways I love thee...
1. Found and communicate with my 1st best friend.
2. Attended a big high school and am now back in touch with many friends that I missed over the years.
3. College roomies and sorority sisters can easily update each other with all of life's going ons.
4. The whole crew from my summer job love FB! We all came from all over the country, so it's fabulous having one place to touch base.
5. Love getting updates on local friends without having to call and chat for hours...I mean who has time with kids, work, and FB?!
6. My sis-in-law was right, it's great for business. I really did create a La Plates group. I'm not entirely sure what to post there yet, but I did it. I have a business group, so now my time on Facebook is a write off as "business", right?!
